Conceptual Statement
In order to pay tribute to the Year 13s of 2008, it is a tradition that Tamaki College celebrates the departing of the Year 13 by holding a graduation, a leavers dinner and also giving them a picture and a year book. In order to celebrate their departure, my client Ms Moore, who is the Deputy Principal of Tamaki College, wanted me to design the year book for 2008, in remembrance of the final year they spent at Tamaki College.
My client wanted to me to report back to her frequently for feedback on the yearbook before approving of it and sending designs to the printers to get it printed in bulk before the graduation day of December 4th 2008.

Specifications
56 pages (had to be in multiples of 4)
8 out of 56 pages must be coloured pages
Year book must be A4 sized
Don’t use the font Times New Roman
Resolution of 150/300 ppi

Conceptual Statement
To develop a design solution for my client Ms Moore; one of two deputy principals at Tamaki College. She wanted a yearbook to be designed for the year 13 graduates of 2008. The reason for this is because in recent years the yearbook was poorly designed and was not up to standard because not much effort was put into it. My client wants us to report back to her frequently for feedback on the year book before signing it off and getting it sent away to the printers and back in time for the year 13 graduation on December 4th 2008.

Specifications
Yearbook is A4 sized
The font Times New Roman is not to be used in the yearbook
Resolution at 150/300 ppi depending where the design solution is getting printed
56 pages (58 plus cover) – has to be in multiples of 4
8 out of the 56 pages are to be in colour, the rest in black and white

Calendar Design Brief

Conceptual Statement
In the context of re-packaging the Tamaki Way, there is an issue with getting the story out to the community. The purpose of re-packaging the Tamaki Way, is to give Tamaki College a positive image. My intended design solution is to produce a calendar to mail out to companies, teacher and parents of Tamaki College students.

Specifications
Calendar:
A4 size, to fit in an envelope
Must have colourful images
Must portray the school in a positive way

Client needs:
Waves, weaving and stars
Colourful timeless images of students
Values and key competencies
School colours – white, navy, blue and maroon
School font – Times New Roman

General:
The number of pages needs to be 24 because there are 12 months in a year which includes the dates and images as well
Types of fonts – Sans serif because its clearer and readable
Types of materials – cardboard type (250gsm)

Brochure Design Brief

Conceptual Statement
In the context of communicating the Tamaki Story to the community, I will design an academic excellence pamphlet to show how the students at Tamaki College are achieving academically.

Specifications
Smaller than A4 but larger than A5
Logo
Colour – must use school colours
Needs to include articles to do with Liggins Science, scholarships, Maths week
Images – need to be of students working, on trips or in leadership situations
The final solution must be printed in multiples of 4 sides i.e. 12, 16, 20 etc

Tamaki Story Concept 1 - Nathan

Here is sketch design concept of a greeting card design I am currently in the process of making. The card relates to the Tamaki Story. I would appreciate some feedback about what you like and what you don't like about the placement of text and images on the design.

The following is a brief description of different parts of the design concept:

the Tamaki Story logo would be placed in the top, right hand corner of the design
the blue colour in the middle is a faded washout
the squares at the bottom hold images that will relate to the 'value'
the double spaced lined under the value 'Aroha' will have a provert, whakatauki or quote that will help give the value more meaning

This is my second design concept for greeting cards, that I would like feedback for.

The design concept includes the following:

images will be vertically placed on the left hand side
the 'value' will be placed in the middle, in bold and large, with a quote underneath relating to the 'value'
the Tamaki Story log will be placed in the top left hand corner

William is a Year 13 student at Tamaki College who is currently taking ICT – Print Media, Graphics Technology and Art at Level 3; as well as English and Mathematics. William is interested in pursuing a career in Digital and Graphic Design and takes the opportunity to discuss with Paea Ahokava (Year 12 Presenter for TCTV), work that he is completing in ICT – Print Media and how the work will help him to staircase along his chosen career pathway.

The context I am doing is the Year book for this year. My client wanted me to design a year book for the year 13 students that are graduating this year. These concepts are just different types of layouts and some thoughts of what I think of it. These are just thumbnail sketches and once I have met with the client I can go into more detail with my concepts with colour, images and text used. I would like feedback of the layout ideas in terms of image choices, and the placement of the elements i.e. text and images on each layout idea.
